Step by Step instructions request please.

Post by Richard137 » Sat Jul 02, 2016 9:35 am

Good Day everyone,
I have a 2006 E53 3.0d Auto (as most of you are aware), and it has come the time that my and the E need to get to know each other better!
So, Can anybody out there offer up any Step by Step instructions on a few things please?

Resetting/Setting the speed on Cruise Control?
Resetting the MPG Reading?
Stopwatch/Arrive/Timer etc, anyone know how to set/use these features?

I know these are simple things for those in the know, those that have the manual, but unfortunately I have neither

ok. assuming yours is the same steering wheel as mine,

the bottom button on left bank of buttons is the cruise on/off button.  the middle button is the set speed for when you reach the speed you want to cruise at and also temporary disengage button. press it again to resume cruise at the previously set speed.  hope that makes sense?  :-[

I think I got that, So there's no dial in speed, just activate when reached? Thank you, I just need to crack the Cons1 & 2 actions now.

You can get hold of electronic owners manuals on line for free.  They may be for US cars, but the functions are pretty much the same.  Might help you with some light reading  :)

I managed to find a .pdf version on line, probably American as it seems to totally ignore the Diesel models.
Hoping. To have a play tomorrow.

The US don't do diesels!  The issue at the time these cars were built was that most US diesel fuel was too 'dirty' for modern engines and was still high sulphur.  Europe (and most of the rest of the world) had gone ULSD almost a decade earlier.  That and the challenging emissions regs compliance requirements regime - VW took an alternative approach - across the US.

MPG reading reset

In board computer setting, turn right knob to highlight consumption 1 or 2. Press button, select recalculate. Press button.

Think that's right off the top of my head.
