New X6 driver

Post by AlpinaB3S » Sun Jun 26, 2016 6:52 pm

Hi

I am new to the forum and new to the X driving experience.

I was looking to find something that could do everything. It needed to pull a caravan, fit my big dog in the back, my wife and two kids inside as well, be economical enough for my commute to work, and not drive like a brick on wheels. I also wanted it to be as nice inside as my current car (a Mercedes CLS shooting brake).

I tried the Range Rover sport, Mercedes GLE and VW Tourag. None of them ticked all of the boxes so I gave up sulked for a bit. Then I went to buy a mirror for my wife's old Alpina and saw an X6 in the showroom.

The salesman was brilliant and to cut a long story short two weeks later picked up my new baby. They had a few in stock around the country so even though I needed a tow bar I had to choose between a few and got a great deal on a 40d with stacks of extras that I wouldn't have thought I could have got.

Best of all I am getting 40plus to the gallon which seems unbelievable  :o

Welcome.  40mpg is better than I have ever achieved.  35 is the max over 30k miles.
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

I have got a pretty boring drive to work. Fairly straight but 55-60 mph all the way. Still surprised and happy to get 40mpg though (according to the trip computer anyway) definitely better than the old car which is a pleasant surprise. I expected it to be 30-35 max

Welcome and congrats on your purchase of the X6.  Had mine some 10 months now and still enjoy the drive and the improvement of the mpg from my previous X5.
