Stuck retractable towbar

Has anyone got first hand experience of fixing the fairly common problem of the Westfalia retractable tow bar not working and fixing it with the new gear wheel from Jaak the Estonian?

If you have can you share any pictures or instructions on dismantling the thing?

Stupid question perhaps, but are you sure it is really stuck? Some time ago mine was stuck out, but after getting home, switching evrtything off for an hour or two, I tried again, and it's been OK ever since. I think something gets out of sequence, and needs a rest and a reset.

Hi,
Yeah tried the " be patient" stuff, then tried the beefy mate pushing and pulling it while I hold the button but no joy.
The're a bit pointless really, I had a detachable on my E53 and that was fine.
I don't actually tow anything but I do like every thing to work.

snrbrtsn, it was that thread that led me to Estonian Jaak who I have the magic part from thanks.
When I do it and if I'm successful then I will post some pics and notes etc.
