Hi all,
Drove down to Bristol for work yesterday and I have picked up a problem.
Upon acceleration even the slightest touch on the peddle I get a high pitched whistle but what would be best described as a jingle - sort a knife on a glass announcing a dinner speaker sort of thing. but with fast repetition.
I would say its not the turbo sort of whistle as I can hear thats normal performance in the background.
I get it on all acceleration up to around 80mph and either t stops of I just cant hear it. It also happens on breaking which is odd however I get no noise in Neutral.
I may get a slight loss of performance but definitely nothing drastic or noticeable. with both front windows down I hazard a guess its under the car and not bonnet however I cant be sure. Breaks and tyres on inspection all seem OK. >:(
A few guys mentioned ECR Valve but to be honest I am stuck as away with work in the car for the next 2 weeks to fix myself and without any tools etc an will be doing a decent bit of driving and dont want something to go pop! :'(
Any suggestions or have you come across this at all?

Re: Driving me mad!! whistle/jingle HELP!!
I had a similar noise issue last summer...
turned out to be a hose clip loose (compressed air from the intercooler pipes) & a split hose too.
the noise was as if you purse your lips tightly & blow, so you get a noise like a balloon going down with the tube pulled & it shrieks...
the burbling in the noise was the oily crud also escaping the leak.
the compressed air side of the air feed from the turbo by default gets a bit oily..
its most likely lower down in the engine bay, as the lower hoses get more oil soaked & break up/soften over thr years...
took me weeks to track it down... hope this helps.
