As above, the rear diff on my 2007 3.0d X5 has broken does anyone know any breakers to try?
I've rang all the the first few from a Google search, emailed everyone breaking an x5 on eBay and filled in the online forms for "breakers yard" "247 spares" and "parts gateway" who ask a network of breakers and so far I've had one reply

Rear diff gone. Anyone know where I can get one?
Re: Rear diff gone. Anyone know where I can get one?
Rarer than hens teeth. All you can do is keep trying. Dealers just replace not repair, and they want silly money.
Any idea what caused it? What tyres are fitted? Tread depth front/rear?
The number of failures is growing and it appears - and I stress appears - connected with either non-OEM type wheels/tyres or large tread depth variation.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Search E70 diff on EBay, there are quite a few.
Re: Rear diff gone. Anyone know where I can get one?
The wheels are standard Y spoke 20s, the tyres are Toyo proxes suv tyres and the rears were done roughly 8 months ago with the matching fronts done around 4 months ago.
No idea why it's happened, the wife said it felt like the car wheel span then just came to a stop.
The mechanic says it feels like something inside the diff is still attached to the end of the drive shaft.
He's going to take it apart tomorrow to see what's happened.
There's loads on eBay but none of the part numbers match mine.
Does anyone know how to find out what ratio it is?
The part number I've been told to look for is
7523094d
Or can the insides of another diff fit? There's a 2013 diff from fab direct on eBay for £195, could I use these internals?

That isn't a BMW part number.
Have a look at Realoem p, but it may be a case of looking on the actual unit for the label. There are indeed several, most have been discontinued and superseded but there are a couple of different numbers still available.
BMW price is well over £1k and they want the old one back as well.
