Drivers door lock pin - does yours also not drop the entire way down?

Post by philgt2008 » Sun May 08, 2016 7:33 pm

As per title in my X5 F15 late 2013 I have just picked up (18k miles) and shes as good as new. I have noticed something odd never seen in any BMW I have owned before. When the doors lock either manually or auto when driving off all the door lock pop up pins recess back into the hole when locked apart from the drivers door pin.

In my car on the drivers door only the pop up pin only recesses down about half so it is left sticking up even when the car is locked. Is this normal for the x5? My 6 series GC for example it drops the same entire way down on all doors.

Can anyone help me please? We all drive these and all have a door lock pin on the drivers door. Does it drop all the way down on locking? Thanks.

Sorry Phil, meant to look last night but car was parked at the other end of the street - and it was teeming down!

My recollection is that they ALL retract to the same degree, but will check tonight.

From memory, mine are all the same but I haven't been able to get down the steps to drive it (let alone look at how it's door locks are aligned) for the last 8 weeks following surgery. I'd ask the missus but then she'd want to drive it !

So, when i lock the doors all the buttons retract to the same extent. all of them protrude very slightly ie maybe a millimetre.
