*Approved tyres
What is the in and out with * approved tyres? I've read that a lot of people advise getting them but what's the real benefit? Is it just a sales deal between BMW and suppliers?

That's what I was thinking as at the end of the day it's just rubber but was intrested in people's opinions and thoughts on the matter

Re: *Approved tyres
It is normally best to stick with * rated tyres as these match the performance of the car , unfortunately people see BMW as a premium brand , parts are premium , quality very good , then want to put cheap tyres on ! I seen a performance car the other day with budget tyres with a low speed rating accident waiting to happen .
In these days of insurance premiums going up the last thing you want after having a bump or accident is for them to say you had the wrong tyres on for the car for the few quid you save is it worth it ?

Re: *Approved tyres
Marketing cowpoo. But a star rated tyre will be from a decent manufacturer. Why people buy a BMW and then put the cheapest bit of rubber on all four corners is beyond me. Same for servicing and general upkeep of the vehicle.
Stick with 4 tyres from the same manufacturer and same amount of tread and you won't go far wrong on any 4 x 4 BMW

Re: *Approved tyres
What he said ^ (apart from the marketing bit).
The critical bit is tread depth variation front/rear. Don't use off-road tyres, and don't go to the cheap end of the market - you need to have faith that 2-tonnes will stop if you need it too!
Change all corners as a set. If you have 8mm at the back, and 3mm at the front you will break something.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
