Parts - Dealer vs Ebay, pleasant surprise

Post by CaseyJay » Thu Apr 28, 2016 10:23 am

I recently replaced a faulty parking sensor - with a £10 part sourced on ebay, works ok as far as I can tell.  I noticed then that 2 of the sensor trims had gone missing.  My instinct took me back to ebay, cheapest I found in UK with free delivery was £16 (listed at £18). I'm in France and >100km away from my dealer so I don't get there often but rang to check pricing - €12.14 or less than a tenner.

Not sure how dealer pricing varies between UK and EU countries but I know in future I will check with dealer first.

How does this compare with other users experience of parts source/pricing? thx

I had a similar episode with the rear door blind hooks. £15 minimum off ebay but only £2.60 from BMW inc delivery for a set of 4.

good to hear then, now I'm really stumped - anyone have a technique for fitting the trims?  Dry fit trim to the sensor/holder works just fine but when I try the out from outside and inner from inside, I cannot get the clips to engage - appears to need a lot of force pushing from behind.  Though about assembly outside then pushing through hole but risk of snapping...

am I missing something?
