Looking at a new X4 but concerned over firm ride quality. Nearly bought an X3 three years ago but demo was m sport on 20 rims and tbh I thought it was dreadful, crashy over bumps and unsettled on smooth roads. Drove an Evoque straight after and bought it. This opinion wasn't changed when tried another m sport this weekend with 19s.
So standard m sport is out for me but have some questions on alternative setups
What's an x line like on standard springs?
If you opt for m sport suspension deletion is this the same as standard/ x line?
What's ride like on standard suspension and 18/19/20 rims?
Does msport with damper control turn it into an xline?
Does damper control on xline make it softer again or does it start at normal setting then just get harder?
Lots of question I know but no advice from dealer at all
Thanks

Suspension advice needed please
Re: Suspension advice needed please
I have the X3 M Sport on 19" alloys and find it a little skittish on bumps mid corner but otherwise ok.
Variable Damper Control is supposed to iron these out even more, but i have no experience of that.
Drove a 3.0d X3 in SE trim (17" alloys), and the ride was sublime but it felt like a barge. It was too docile, but comfortable.
The X Line will have the same suspension as a SE, unless you option the M Sport suspension.
I have just bought some 17" winter wheels, and that will be the interesting combination. I. E how does an M Sport ride on smaller wheels with bigger sidewalls?
See if you can drive an MSport on 17" or 18" wheels. The older X3's Msports (circa 2012), came with 18" wheels as standatd, where as now the X3/X4 come standard on 19" alloys
