Level control system failure

Post by sitrom » Mon Mar 28, 2016 5:24 pm

Hello,
I was on holiday to Cornwall and on the drive back I started receiving various warning messages on iDrive. I knew I had an issue with one of the rear airbags, as the car was at BMW last Wednesday and during the vehicle check they told me one of the airbags was frayed and would need changing in the next month or so. Unfortunately as it turned out, the airbag not only didnt have a month before going but barely a week. Yesterday I could hear a hissing sound from the rear passenger side, and the car was slanting a bit. Anyway I went ahead and ordered a pair of airbags and I will have a go at replacing them myself as after reading a lot about the subject it seems quite straightforward.
Anyway, back to the warning messages, during the drive back, I first received a TPM monitor inactive message, followed by the Level control system failure message, followed by a Tyre Pressure Loss message, at which ppint i pulled overy at some services and had the car recovered home. Would it be safe to assume that the origin of those messages is the same, or did I happen to have multiple failures at the same time?

Sorry can't help
But does yours rise back up again whilst driving?

If it's ground low then it may be an issue

Where and what air bags have you ordered?

I've just ordered aerosus ones from Germany

The side that is slanting is raised when the car starts, but you can hear the hissing sound from the airbag, and then drops back down once I turn the engine off.

I ordered the Aerosus ones too.

I've ordered today
Went for a pair on standard delivery, when are you expecting yours?

Mine still holds for now, as not much of a drop after say an hour in a shop

When they are replaced aren't you meant to have them set up via diagnostics, etc.

Did you? If not, could that have 'thrown things out so to speak?
People buy horsepower but drive torque!
