Oil level to high
Oil level to high
Whilst checking I drive my car is showing oil level too high but when checking dipstick level is slightly below maximum could it be sensor
Re: Oil level to high
It could. I have had this too and the dealer drained a small amount even though like you, the dipstick says fine. Not had the alert since. The Dealer accused me of overfilling it and then had to apologise when I quietly pointed out that all servicing was done by them!
Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
Re: Oil level to high
They did take some oil out and replaced a pulley and fan belt said would reset after twenty miles but didn't looks like it will be a new sensor

Re: Oil level to high
My previous F10 528 and current E70 are fitted with these crappy oil level sensors. Luckily, both had/have a dipstick as well and in my experience, these things are not very accurate.
Re: Oil level to high
Yes the idrive reading on mine is usually slow to catch up so don't rely on it for oil changes.
If you correct it using the dipstick reading (a pila pump is good for removing some excess oil) and it reoccurs then it could because the DPF regens are failing. I read this dumps the unburnt fuel for the regen into the sump apparently. Regen failures are often due to thermostat issues not allowing the engine to reach 75C.

Re: Oil level to high
They checked dpf was replaced six months ago and the car gets to 93degrees all the time and goes to 105 degrees when doing a regen . The dealership replaced the control unit and all the glow plugs when they did dpf thermostats were also done all done under bmw auc warranty
Re: Oil level to high
They kept it three days to do some software updates and a recall on pulley with new fan belt
Re: Oil level to high
Got car back checked hidden temps got to 97degrees and stay there for hour half cars seems to drive better after software update and mpg has gone up
