First post here, came across this thread after looking all evening for comfort access & battery drain problems.
My 2011 E70 (which I've had a year today )was in recently getting the comfort access security update. My driver's door comfort access wasn't working and I knew that at purchase, but the first time I went to use the passenger door after the update (about 3-4 days later) the passenger door had stopped working too, both for lock and unlock. Not only that but when locking by touching the grooves on either of the two rear doors, it takes about 2-3 seconds for the car to lock now whereas before it was instant, or near-instant anyway.
About 5 days after the update I started seeing the 'increased battery discharge' message and now most of the time the comfort access doesn't work at all; it does if locking and unlocking within maybe 30 minutes of a drive. Every journey I make in the car is at least 15-20 minutes so it should be getting plenty of charge. If switching off the ignition but keeping the radio/phone on, they shut off after about 2 minutes; never a problem in the past.
The dealer looked at this and it transpires that the passenger door handle is now faulty, simple as that. Also after leaving the battery on charge overnight and for over 20 hours of charging, it only reached 55% which indicates a faulty battery. I'm not sure if the battery was isolated from the car when doing this charge; I'm guessing it wasn't, and that something is continually draining the battery. That 'something' being the comfort access. Some sort of internal logic is then disabling the comfort access as it realises it's causing a battery drain. Does this not sound reasonable? I just ask because the dealer is going to replace the battery...

I've not had the battery increased discharge message for about a week, although after changing the battery few days after the clocks have reset. Since I've given a couple of few hours charge it seems fine for now
I had a key update, not sure if that's comfort access too
But my CA handles all still work fine apart from drivers one which I know of
Are you getting the handle changed? Is it just the handle or the mechanism behind it which can be seen on realoem diagram?
Don't think the cold weather has helped when the battery not in good charge capacity
When I get a free weekend at home will put the ctek charger on again and longer, there are 8 leds I think on charge state and because I haven't hooked it up for long it only reaches to 4 max; but I think it will need a good 24 hours I guess; but the cars not garaged and don't fancy charging it with the cold damp nights

I got told by a mechanic there is a much smaller battery that runs the computer side of the car. This was also clarified when I priced up new battery for mine at GSF car parts

Not an OEM part. Only one battery fitted. Everything comes off the main battery. There's no split charging built into the E70 (or any others except possibly specific Police variants and even then it is usually the same as the standard battery or bigger) at the factory.
Either your 'mechanic' has worked on 'specials' or has no idea what is actually fitted. It's not in the OEM parts list. No other parts supplier refers to it so what are GSF referring to? Their website also says it fits every car I own, and none of them have any secondary/backup batteries either
The only suggestion I can think of for it would be to connect under the bonnet whilst doing a battery change so you don't lose any settings?

I thought it was going well
Got a ctek charger and plugged in a couple of times for a few hours in the evening and went a week without increased battery discharge, but it's back again
Even after a good 30 mins each way journey on the motorway
Got a used blower unit and regulator from a newer car to go in tomorrow, hopefully that will stop the strange pulsating and humming noise of the heater
Also new dvd laser nav reader to be put in
Using a different garage to fit these parts, so may ask it he has any clues but then again he's not a BMW specialist with all the computers.
My old battery was 90a I think and new one is 95a, but coded as a the same, wander if that might have an issue?
Would a Carly app enable me to recode the battery correctly?

95a is what BMW now fit and is the replacement for the 90a. Both are coded the same. The carly APP just lets you register the battery to tell it's got a new one and you can read at what mileage it was replaced.
I'm wondering if an issue with your comfort access is causing the drain as you said the fob battery only lasts a couple of months - mine lasts much longer roughly 18 months I think. Just thinking whatever drains the fob when you are in the car is also draining the main battery when its parked. Was thinking maybe locate the fuse and pull the comfort access for a few days to see if anything changes. I am talking off the top of my head (or out my ass) assuming the door locking etc will still work fine with that disabled and the car will start with the fob in the slot.

That's where my head is at. Following the other link on the blower regulator, see of that makes an difference
But the issue with key fob drain and with comfort access and main battery drain makes logical sense
It's just knowing which fuse does what and whether effects locking or comfort access in what ways

Says 132 but check as different model and us/eu differences etc.
There's a fuse box in the rear behind the panel in the boot on the drivers side. There's a card in there with symbols which hopefully will confirm.
