LCI rear lights

Post by bmw-lover » Mon Feb 29, 2016 9:24 pm

Hi everyone,

My brother changed his X5 rear lights to the new facelift model and I have to say his car looks stunning! Thought to share it with you all.
He collected them for £350 from this guy around Ealing W13.

They do look good, and from a Dealer are outrageously priced!  Somewhere north of £600 when I enquired for my X6.....and that was with discount too!
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Hi all,

My brother keeps getting error codes after he changed his rear LCI and needs to code them. Does anyone know how to code them using Carly?

Thanks

You plug the dongle in to the car, connect the dongle wireless connection in settings. ( Apple IOS )
Click on coding , search modules, the dongle searches for modules, then gives you a list of modules that it found click on the lighting one, save original settings when prompted.
You then scroll through the individual lights, I e rear tail lights inner, rear tai lights outer and change the setting to inactive on the voltage check , sounds complicated but it's not, do the ones that are now LED.
Not sure if you have to do each light individually, it prompts you to turn the ignition off and back on to store the new settings. ( there is a disclaimer page comes up before you are allowed to change the coding, scroll to the bottom and click agree. Must be for the US market, although it's as bad here now )
It's all very easy and straight forward, once you have the thing connected
Make sure you change the main page settings to the correct car version before starting IE X5 E70.
You can add digital speedo, welcome lights. Etc.
Found the BMW scanner better for the E53 though, but as it's no good for the E70 the Carly app is well worthwhile as you can do the DPF and battery registration. Auto folding mirrors too.

Yes recomended to have the engine running, follow prompts on the screen, as we all know BMW's can't cope with the ignition on for long before the battery gives up.
The Carly app is very user friendly and as it makes you backup the settings before you mess, you can restore to original coding if you balls up.

Normally best to leave it on when coding
