X3 2005 20" alloy options

Post by Dans6490 » Wed Mar 09, 2016 7:50 am

Not even picked the car up yet but I'm already thinking about new alloys. Is there an optimum offset/tyre size for the x3? I've been looking at the x6 alloys but I doubt they'll fit. Not wanting low profile tyres, would rather keep the comfort of a deeper side wall but think staggered 20" would look awesome. Again, any input, thoughts or advice welcomed.

The X3's achilles heal is the tyre requirements.
All X3 E83's should use '*' star rated tyres to avoid transfer case, 4x4 problems.

I have heard that if you don't have a staggered setup the chances are reduced but I would not take the risk.

The X3 suits 19's and would not go bigger, here are some of the pics I found online with bigger alloys:

With big wheels I think they look odd, like this:

Have a look at Alloywheelsdirect for all the official sizes as they also give offset data.  You need to check the centre bore diameter as different models have differences and you may need either spigot rings or centre-boring.

Mmm, doesn't look good does it! Might stick with the "y" shape 19s. Are they staggered on the x3?

This actually looks pretty good on the X5 wheels.
