Expensive problem I think!!

Post by M40CCA » Tue Mar 08, 2016 4:23 pm

Over the last few days my partner has said that her x5 has been making a "ticking" noise from under the bonnet and then smoke pouring out the back of it.

I've drove it today and for once she is right

The car drives spot on no loss of power or anything, till the noise starts and then a massive amount of white smoke pours out of the back and mean a lot, enough for other cars behind to have to stop because they can't see

I managed to get it to my uncles garage I've plugged it in and I have 2 codes

4B10 smooth running fault
4B11 smooth running fault

Any ideas boys????

This thread covered it back in 2010.  Imminent injector failure is the most likely issue.  Have a read and see if it fits what you are seeing.

Given it includes 'ticking' that could well be the problem, or at least connected with them and a cylinder being over fuelled will pour white smoke.
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
