Hello and thank you for letting me join in. Worked for BMW for a few years and always wanted an X5 and have now come to that time in my life I can afford to own and run one. Bought my in November last year and I have to say what a car. I have had many cars but this one is by far the most comfortable and fun to drive, even the wife enjoys driving it ).
I do have one question if anyone can help. I am looking at fitting a fixed flanged tow bar as I want to fit a motorcycle rack, will this upset the rear parking sensors? I will be purchasing the dedicated wiring to go with it.

Welcome along.
As for the tow bar question. I'm no expert but would say it shouldn't be an issue if fitted/wired correctly as whether fixed or removable when in place a tow bar is a tow bar and the sensors no no different.

Re: Newbie X5
Check the maximum nose weight limits as a motorcycle may exceed it. The weight capability will reduce as you move away from the normal tow ball position. Standard tow bar is a detachable Westphalia from somewhere like PF Jones. They do other choices and they come with dedicated electrics high should take care of the parking sensors.
Which version of the X5 do you have, there are three models plus all the trim variants.
