Increased battery discharge

Will try and get hold of a voltmeter
Where do I make connections under then bonnet?
[/quote]
Should be a red plastic cover at the right side. Lift it and there is a large nut under it. It is the +ve jumper point. Close to it will be its -ve point which is the same sized nut with no cover on the front crash strengthener strut.
And as Horizon suggests, it might actually be a bad battery, although you have had two with the same problem. It does happen though.

Sorry. Didn't realise you had the same problem with two batteries.

Re: Increased battery discharge
I'm only guessing as there are 2 pics of different batteries, so it may be a wrong assumption on my part... :-[

Re: Increased battery discharge
Yes, I had the battery replaced as 1st one was non AGM and swapped it to a second battery to an AGM as I was running an AGM before
This is what I have now ybx9019

Re: Increased battery discharge
Looking at the pictures you put the red +ve lead in the right side socket (VΩmA) and the black -ve lead in COM.
The dial needs rotating left into the DC V range to '20'. Red lead onto the +ve on the car, Black lead to the -ve point on the car. That will give you the right range to see the figures in.
What part of the U.K. are you in?

OK. A bit too far for me to assist
Might be someone nearer though.

Thanks for the thought
Asked a few mates any none of them have voltmeters lol
New battery versus the standard one I had seems to be slightly better as before the clocks would reset most of the time
At the moment still monitoring it, but less so
I was readings about on other threads and with comfort access one of my handles don't work for keyless entry
How do I find out if its wiring or faulty handle?
I've read someone else have a faulty wiring to handle causing the issue of draining battery

Re: Increased battery discharge
Increased battery discharge hasn't appeared after 24 hours use of the new AGM battery but the clocks do reset most of them after long period of sleep mode ie over night

Re: Increased battery discharge
It will be interesting to see how things go now you have a trickle charger. Must be so frustrating to have these un explained problems

Re: Increased battery discharge
It is frustrating
Don't fancy going into BMW unless I really have to as unsure how many hours they will take to diagnose and at more than £100 an hour too!
Could be a number of things I'm guessing at from google
Such as linked to my blower regulator as another member linked on this thread, this is next inline to replace
But reading more it could be comfort access system as my key fob seems to drain battery quickly
Could be the wires, handles, brains unit
So much electrical things in these cars!

Re: Increased battery discharge
I feel for you. Complex beasts these when they go wrong. And they do often. My 535d was a dream in comparison. 150k and no issues. Dare i suggest its where they are built?
Could be anything but that comfort access issue seems interesting. Really you need someone who can measure the drain and then maybe pull fuses on some likely suspects and see what happens.
