LL04 Spec fully synthetic 5/30. Go for one of the branded names rather than the cheapo stuff, as they contain a much better additive mix. (According to my friend who works for an oil company)
He supplied me with Valvoline, which he says is formulated for the iDrive oil service interval, (usually around 15k miles) + a margin of 50%, but he says the brands all have a higher spec.

7.5 litres I think.
Oil filters genuine BMW can be found on ebay. I just bought one and noticed it is stamped OX177 as well as having the BMW part number. OX177 is a Mahle part number which can be found for half the price! That's what I'll be buying next time!

6.5 liters without oil cooler
7.0 liters with oil cooler
Aside from ebay, does anyone have any experience dealing with the mob at genuineautoparts?
11427542021 at £11 looks pretty good
