Considering an X3
Re: Considering an X3
How to identify from interior:
Early:
Facelift:
You can see the dash plastic quality differences and the facelift has the fascia pieces.
Also facelift have door pockets and pre-facelift have a netting.
They don't all have satnav, in fact very few do.
**As said don't be put off by a new turbo. My '56 had a new turbo under warranty @37k by BMW**

What the connectivity like? I'd like to connect in an iPhone. What options are there for this. I don't suppose there's any aftermarket CarPlay head units that fit as the only ones I've seen need a double din. Assuming most have Bluetooth?

Re: Considering an X3
In my current X3 I have the BMW bluetooth and it works fine with my iPhone 6.
The facelift X3's have an AUX in behind the front armrest.
In my old X3 I brought this back from the USA and it was brilliant:
You use it in conjunction with the existing stereo.
It gives you bluetooth,MP3,SATNAV,Movie playback and audio/video input.
I put movies and music on a USB stick and played them from that.
I also fitted a reverse camera into the boot handle and connected it to the screen.

Useful pics there jagr.
I would add it can be difficult for untrained eye to tell difference between pre-facelift & facelift. Later cars have more paint on bumpers but msports can confuse. Also front lamp configurations vary. I find easiest visual clue is the nose grills - significantly bigger only the facelift.
Maybe jagr might have front comparison pics. If not just search classified advertising sites....pretty obvious once you see some images or cars in the metal.

Thanks for that jagr. When you say the BMW Bluetooth works fine with your iPhone 6, is that just for calls, or can you play audio as well?

There is also the Aerokit which is a BMW aftermarket add-on
This is my mates '05 2.0d Sport with Aerobat which was around a £2k option that was fitted when the car was 2 years old:

As AW8 says they are confusing as I actually went to see a 2008 '08 X3 that was a prefacelift so registration does not help.
As you can see it has old rear lights (non LED style) and Msport bumpers but it is a pre-facelift.
Its a mishmash

Its not 08. Fake plate.
Re: Considering an X3
Please qualify last post.
Car probably since totalled or on a cherished transfer.
I believe there were some left over prefacelifts registered in 2008.

Re: Considering an X3
Just cant be. Did you get it scaned to check production year/ engine code.Face lift starts 09/2006. 2008 non face lift? Impossible even in UK.
Re: Considering an X3
Perfectly possible if it wasn't registered until 08. Build date isn't relevant to registration year. Worth checking just in case though as it just gave been in unsold storage for a while
