Audio Upgrade

Post by dobbor1 » Fri Feb 19, 2016 7:32 am

Has anyone had an after market audio upgrade done? I have the standard 6 speaker system. What are the best options and any company recommendations? I'm in the North West.

Thanks

Doesn't appear to be a Gladen distributor near. Nearest is ZEROCAKE in Lincoln or Bass box car audio in Birmingham.

I am the UK Distributor for Gladen but if you search through BMW forums you'll see the reviews the products get.

Ide be interested to know / follow this thread if it goes anywhere.
I have been contemplating a audio upgrade, but just want to replace the current bmw speakers, NO amps etc..
Ide looked at the Bavsound option, but it aint cheap...

Been looking at upgrades myself, the problem with the base system (6 speaker) is that it has no amp and the high frequencies are boosted by the head unit to compensate for the lack of tweeters.

There's also no rca or low level audio out from the stock head unit so you need a harness adaptor to get anywhere, is it really worth it ?

I've got the profesional radio / cd / iPod  in my E93, I find the sound via the radio / iPod sound quality very good. BUT I probably havnt got a very good ear for music. It's far superior to that of my E53.
Have you got the business hi fi or profesional.
And if anyone has had both, it would be interesting to hear if there is much difference between bus/ pro ?

Going from 14 speaker logic 7 in my E92 to 6 speaker in the E70 was painful  :'(

I've bought some focal krs100 components for the front and some Rockford fosgate co-axials for the back but tbh I'm not sure I can be bothered with it all

I had a set of Focal Universal ISN100's fitted for £300 by Road Radio in Sussex. What an improvement over the stock set up - suddenly I could hear clarity and detail that was previously missing. Had been looking at the Focal KRS' but when the door panel was off, and because they fitted some sound deadening, the shallower ISN100's where recommended.

Thanks for the link G_M_S, I've got some sound deadening material to put in too so I'll have to make sure the krs100's fit after I've done that

I'm ear enough to the OP but going to try the whole thing myself. Replace DSP, sat nav, mult-changer with an android head unit and some crossovers.

Only trouble I'm having is getting the old cassette / radio /screen / OBC /  head unit out of the dash  (it's a 8378942)
