Tyre Pump/Compressor/Inflator

Guys, looking to treat myself to a tyre pump for the car and wondered if anyone has any recommendations.

I bought a analogue tyre pressure gauge and inflator after reading up on them. Most of these inflators have onboard gauges, that were tested and found to be inaccurate by some margin, the reports therefore suggested an analogue tyre pressure reader is a worthwhile investment.

The analogue gauge is really great for having a quick check on all 3 cars.  The F25 has tpms sensors anyway.

My post relates to portable devices folk might carry in the car.....Not garage compressors or jumper packs with built in tyre inflators.

I have been making do with a cheap £10 compact tyre inflator after a Ring branded digital inflator screw on adaptor/connector broke on first day of use. I am not a fan of fragile screw connectors. Unfortunately very few come with an old school quick release, (lever) , connector & many do not deliver decent air output for larger tyresas fitted to most of our vehicles on here. Air output although measured in litres per minute is rarely listed in adverts or product info albeit I note Argos do list this for their limited range of products.

Most cigarette lighter inflators hàve limitations compared to decent crocodile clip to battery post items,  (larger tyres take a long time to pump up with unsuitable kit).

Also bear in mind size if it is to be stored in car.

For a penny under £15 you can buy THISwith free delivery from Maplin.....It does not seem to have an auto cut off & reviews indicate gauge is poor. Note amazon site indicates customers ordered it along with a cigarette to crocodile clip adapter.

Any of the more powerful compressors using a cigarette socket might blow your fuse so consider buying decent crocodile clips for the battery jack posts  or a cigarette socket to crocodile adapter........That is assuming any product fitted in line fuses ( usually in the cigarette plug in adapter) are up to the job. E53 fuse rating for front cigarette socket is 20A.

I like the look of THIS 90 Litre Per Minute item for under £50.  No idea what it is like but a few 4x4 centres seem to sell them......Saw it linked as a suggested purchase on another forum.

North of £50 for a compact unit T-Max seem to be the chosen brand.

Due to gauge inaccuracy on many devices I accordingly bought a Race X RX0014 analogue gauge for about a tenner. Consistently accurate in reviews and tests.

dark_stranger........Tyre connector on RAC635 looks identical to the one that failed on my 1st use (RAC630 I think). Hopefuily an isolated incident.

Lez......Glad my link of some use.......I spent a fair ammount of time researching & posting that lot yesterday
