E83 X3 3.0d man hesitation under acceleration

Post by Bubbaspaarx » Fri Feb 19, 2016 1:34 pm

Hi guys. Have an ongoing issue with my X3.

Under heavier acceleration in 3rd, 4th and 5th there's a sort of hesitation/misfire feeling in the otherwise smooth acceleration. It's odd and kind of feelings like something is slipping from the drive of the engine.

Have looked around and someone mentioned Torque Converter? Not sure if this in the manuals. Any help is greatly appreciated.

No torque converter in a manual.  It replaces the clutch in an auto to transfer the drive from the engine to the gearbox.  Can't help with the problem as I have no experience of the X3.

The best way of tracking it down will be to get the error code memory read.  That might show something even though no warning lights/messages have appeared.

Think i have found the solution to the problem. Seems a lot of people have the same issue and this guy found the fix. Page 7 of this forum thread.

Hope it helps anybody else. They call it shuttering up hill which is a very good description of the issue I have.
As you can see, the guy trying to fix his issue has done everything to his to X3 to fix it and it was a software reset that finally fixed it.

Finally linked it up with Dis57 and found the adaptations. There were only two available because its not an auto. Adaptation for the MAF done and another which I can't remember.

Definite improvement to the shuttering but there's now a different issue with big flat spots at the top end of gears 3 + 4..... Probably needs more investigations
