locked my keys in the boot! any tricks on getting in to my x5
locked my keys in the boot! any tricks on getting in to my x5
HELP!!!! as title locked my keys in my x5 e53 any ways on getting in to it without them?
Re: locked my keys in the boot! any tricks on getting in to my x5
I take it you have no spare in easy range? Without a spare no easy way. You'll need a locksmith to get one of the locks open and then retrieve the key. The alarm will go, but once you have a key you can turn that off again.
I watched a dealer spend three hours trying (unsuccessfully) to get into a 5 series several years ago (I was stuck waiting for a new screen to be fitted). They had to call a professional in the end.

I may be missing some thing here - like a couple of ounces of Grey matter...
But HOW did you lock the keys in the vehicle...
I understood that once unlocked, it stayed that way until you either drive off... or remotely lock it again...
OR
the vehicle only self-locks if remotely unlocked, but no doors opened.. then it self-locks after a few minutes ....

Re: locked my keys in the boot! any tricks on getting in to my x5
I shut my keys in the boot accidentally once. I opened the boot via the fob button and did not unlock the rest of the car. For some reason I put the key down in the boot, instead of into my pocket, picked up what I needed to and shut the boot... :-[ :'(
The spare was 12 miles away and fortunately I was able to get someone to take me to get it. Needless to say I never did that again. On the X6 I think it is possible to do the same, but I'm not going to try it!
My Skoda Superb has keyless entry and it will not lock the car if the key is inside and it is able to tell whether or not that is the case.

On a lot of cars, not sure if the E53 is the same ( but it can be coded that way, as my Carly app allows it to be changed.) if you don't open the drivers door the car will relock automatically after 2 mins, then if you close a door after it relocks the door won't re open.
I've bought a few BMW's with o e key, but said never again as I'm sick of going to the expense and hassle of purchasing a spare.
There's mobile specialist lock smiths that can get into it, but will probably cost as much as a dealer spare key.
We can't win can we

Ahhh.. the tail gate button....
I have a 3rd key... a flat bare key - no electronics in it... maybe a wise move to keep one in my wallet, incase I do the same..

Sounds bonkers but I can vouch it works (on a Volvo anyway) mid 90's I was leaving an Hotel in Antwerp and did the same thing keys in the back shut the door walk away and her a click. The local Volvo dealer sent out a mechanic who asked do you have a spare key? Answer yes its in the kitchen draw in the UK. He then asked if I had a mobile and if my wife had a mobile told me to call her and get her to operate the spare key with it close to the phone, we held my phone close to my windscreen above the steering wheel and the car unlocked. I was gobsmacked and grateful of went a smiling Belgian mechanic.
When I got home I tried it again on the drive at home it worked again, worth a go with the X5 before resorting to a brick or a new door lock.

I can confirm the phone trick does work on some vehicles. I tried it out of curiosity some years ago, however I can't remember if it worked on the BMW and not on the Peugeot, or vice versa. Will have to try it on the x3.

Re: locked my keys in the boot! any tricks on getting in to my x5
i know a few tricks on how to get into cars that work well on older cars, locked my keys in my VW's on a couple of occasions, but not tried them on more modern cars, so not sure if they work.
For obvious reasons not going to post how to break into a car on a public forum
Do you have breakdown cover, so of the providers are able to assist with keys locked in cars iirc.

Just checked the X6 and you cannot open the boot without unlocking at least one door. Much less chance of locking the keys in the car.

If you've got a BMW warranty (and therefore BMW assist) give them a call - they can get in no problem.
I did the exact me thing not long after I got my E53 - I didn't have a BMW warranty but knew the dealer sales manager, who gave me the number of one of the BMW Assist guys. He came out to me and got into the car in about 10mins (ish). I watched him do it and he left no marks and did no damage to any part of the car - as already mentioned by other posters I'm not gonna give any details of methods on public forum
Hope you get/got sorted

It is very easy to do. as has already been posted, unlock the boot relaease then leave your keys inside and shit the boot - the boot locks and as the res tof the car was not unlocked everythign is locked. Hey presto - keys locked in boot.
So the the OP - as it was yesterday you posted you may already have solved the iseue or smashed the window to gain access. I had the same problem and called the AA. I hope the mods will allow me to post this (if not please send it to OP by PM to help him out). the AA man did the balloon thing to prise the door open, the used a long rod to pull the back seats forward then with a magnet fished the keys out of the boot. If you have the back seats in the locked position this will not work.He tried using his metal rod to press the central locking unlock button but couldn't hit it right. A second AA man turned up as he had heard the call and fancied himself as a bit of a locksmith - so they had a race. man with metal rod won, but only because the rear seats were unlocked.
How did you get on?

Ebay are currently selling a generic keyless entry kit that could help in this circumstance
