Just home & been told by the wife that the gearbox isn't changing into 2nd. After jumping back in the seat & taking her for a small run, it appears there is a lack of power on low revs, until 3000rpm then the turbo kicks in. I'm presuming the twin turbo system on the motor has a low pressure/high pressure turbo impellers. I'm reckoning the low rev turbo/impeller is down! Any assistance or guidance with this matter would be greatly received.
Cheers Chris.

Turbo issues
Re: Turbo issues
If it's the same system as the 535d there is reports of a perished vacuum hose that runs to the small turbo splitting or becoming detached . Hopefully a cheap fix once found.
Hope it's not more sinister

Re: Turbo issues
Cheers for the reply Horizon. I'll pop the bonnet & see if that is the case. Sorry never mentioned the type of motor I have. 2008 E70 3.0sd. Hopefully the hose will be the cause! If notll I'll just have to prepare myself for the bill!
Re: Turbo issues
Vacuum leaks are the most frequent cause of power loss as the control system needs it. I would expect you to be seeing copious amounts of oil smoke from turbo issues and it would be unlikely to take both out at once. The 35d set are two identical sizes whereas the 40d went to dissimilar sized.

Re: Turbo issues
On my old 535d my hose to small turbo perished and caused similar issue
It's not an easy visible thing just by lifting the bonnet though as it's lower down
Was about a £60 fix at an Indy for me

Re: Turbo issues
I had the same problem on a 335d, pressure converters (actuators) failed, there's also a mechanical linkage that can fail and cause similar issues
