How long does it take to power down these lights?
I checked after 10 minutes and were still on

Re: Start Stop Button and Gear lever P illumination when locked
Every time you click the key the car "wakes up" and stays awake for about 30 mins when you use the key to lock the doors. Whilst it's awake current is drained from the battery as the computer and communications/sound system are all alive. That's why many short journeys, including just getting the car out of the garage, hammer it and that's why having the right battery, in good condition, coded to the smart alternator is so important.

Noticed this evening after charging the battery for a few hours and switching it off the lights didn't illuminate after being switched off but before charging it did?
