The RR didn't lack speed, it was the SDV8 engine, so was torquey and fast. The RRS was just the SDV6 and that is not as refined as the BMW 6 pot diesel.
Where the X5 feels much better is roadholding, with more of a sporty feel to it, and the technology - navigation, infotainment and the user interface with iDrive, is light years ahead of the JLR product, Build quality is also better.
Having said that the latest FFRR is the daddy of SUVs, a superb vehicle with immense presence and I am very glad to have owned one, and equally as glad that i got out relatively financially unscathed!
