Hi all, just purchased a 2004 4.8is X5. First time owning one of these. Had to downgrade from an F10 M5 (yes it hurt) any tips etc would be welcomed.

Hi and welcome Tony,

If you have to come down from the M5 the 4.8is is certainly a nice way to do it. Tips....enjoy it

My half penny worth:
- enjoy
- try changing oil/filter every 10k or 1 yr, whichever comes first and keep an eye on it - this should help keep engine in good form.
- keep some money aside for suspension components
- it's a feel good factor assuming it's a good example
- put your foot down (not slam it) on a uphill stretch of road & enjoy the low rev growl

I'm preparing my 4.8iS for sale after 6+ years of very privileged driving :)

Didn't even last a week with the front suspension dropping. Replaced the pump what blew the left bag. 1600 quid bill late, warranty picked up half! Oh well onward and upwards. Thanks for the bits of advice guys.

Hi and welcome to the forum, there is a lot of help and knowledge on here.

The 4.8 is a nice car and an awesome sounding engine yet keep it well serviced

Sorry to here about the problem with the pump and airbag. It may be worth checking did you buy the car from a dealer as they have to come with a minimum 3 month warranty so if inside that I thought they have to fix it at their cost. Where as if you are outside that and on a warranty then you may have to pay some as appears you have done.
