I have a note 4 in my 54 plate and it does exactly the same thing.

The E53 has been through about a dozen different bluetooth modules - my note 2 was the last thing that paired properly in my car!

Yeah I gave up trying to source a new (er) bluetooth module. They seem quite expensive for something that I wasn't 100% sure would fix the problem.

I was going to replace the entire head unit with one of these Android units, but I've decided to upgrade the car instead!  O:-)

You can upgrade the ULF module.
There are a few on E-bay, but ensure you get a later one than yours....
Sounds obvious, but sometimes the part numbers are not consistent

They did a Gen13 module which, although the most expensive, is the latest one they did to fit.
Should be a simple plug and play job, then re-pair the phone.

As it is the same kit then all previous functions will work (Steering wheel controls etc)
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
Please note...
Anything I say is only from my personal experience and knowledge..
I don't assume to know everything, and know there is a lot I don't know..
But then I could be talking bollox.. O:-)
