There are lots of possibilities that could contribute to this .
How does it idle with the valve connected ?
With the engine and ignition off if you operate the throttle from under the bonnet just off its still slowly at idle do you heat the throttle switch clicking ( the micro switch operating ) ?
Have you checked all the intake hoses and breathers for air leaks?
Cheers
Steve.
Let me know how you get on ... Hope I can help did my apprenticeship on those.

Right so checked all hoses no leaks
With the valve connected it idles fine but if you try to rev it it hits a stop at around 2k rpm see vid
Also removed the tps and tested with a multi meter and cleaned all the correct reading are there, with the micro switch i here the first on disconnect as soon as i pug the tinyist bit of theottle on and the second one connects at around 3/4 throttle, havnt test driven it to see if the original stall at 5k revs is still there with the icv disconnected,
Contacted previous owner to ask why icv was disconnected and he said it has been mapped out i dont know if this is even possible or if hes lying
Also another point is with the icv unplugged idle is very high, with it plugged in it idles perfect but wont rev over 2k
in the vid thats me holding down pedal as if tho rev it to red line

Yeh i was quite please with the mot, next is obviously do the mot list, i machine polished a test patch and its looking like all the flat paint will buff back up so will be staying as is for this summer then the grand pan is next winter to strip and do all the bodywork and return it to the original colour (which it is under bonnet etc) which is dolphin grey, i just dont want to get involved with bodywork this year as i sold my x5 to buy a house and i know from past experience theres always more to them than meets the eye and i want it perfect when done, so any pannels etc will get replaced before a full spray job

Think this was up for sale in London?
Was owned by someone who is well known in regards to bodywork around 10 years ago (Jags Bodyshop)
get yourself onto e30zone or ask a question on the e30zone fb group and you'll have a lot of people to help.
Mine has gone a complete restoration by Juste30z, just a quick pic...

Nice cheap repair in the end which is a result..
I have an E30 325 sport that I have owned since 1993 in the garage under a cover .. Not moved for 3 years.
As I said earlier I did my apprenticeship on those so if you need anything I may be able to help with feel free to give me a shout.
Good luck with the car.
