Warranty Direct £488 basic price. £328 paid in the end!
Re: Warranty Direct £488 basic price. £328 paid in the end!
I've read some of warrantydirects literature and with regards to the 90days wear and tear clause, if a major part goes bang then cant they use the old 'well sir the part has been going for X-miles so this would be related to wear and tear'? If you do speak to then mate could you ask if they cover the rear subframe bushes as thats a very common wear and tear failure but i wonder if they classify that as part of the rear suspension or body?
Re: Warranty Direct £488 basic price. £328 paid in the end!
Hi Guys - Im sat here awaiting a call back from WD. I called them on saturday and i was told that the dept was closed and would open on monday but some of the points i listed would not be covered -
These were the Rear subframe bushes are NOT covered - they are still clarifying this and speaking withe the engineering dept and ringing me back as they say they are known as the rear sub frame mounts????? im sure they have the wrong end of the stick, will wait on to see what they say.

I would be very interested in their response to you mate, as with these warranty companies it sometimes is a case of, if it is not a part listed in black and white then it not covered!!!
Re: Warranty Direct £488 basic price. £328 paid in the end!
I got the call back , have r and been moved up to the next level of cover for an addtional 25 quid, happy with that, they clarified that the actual bushes are covered but the engine mounts that they sit on are not, never heard of them going so thats ok.
They are better than lawyers with avoiding questions, had to really work hard.
The point i was worried about was that the 90 day wear and tear policy kicks in after 3 months, i asked him again if my engine blew tomorrow would i be covered , he told me again that if there was total failure on the engine then its covered - if the failure is due to wear and tear then not for 90 days -
My next question was then ' how would you differntiate between wear and tear failure and total unrelted failure????? he told me this would be the call of the garage where it is taken , if they say the fault is due to wear and tear then it wont be covered , if not then it will.
I find this very very vague!!! still worried about it but what else can i do , sometimes i think im looking into this too deep!!!! lets just go with the flow now

Re: Warranty Direct £488 basic price. £328 paid in the end!
mate I would work on the assumption that any cover in the first 90 days would be a bonus. As surely if for example your turbo goes do to a part that has broken, they could simply say that part has done X miles so therefore it can be classed as wear and tear. After the 90 days I guess thats when the real benefits of the policy kick in.
Hi,
I took out a luxury cover policy with WD in 2009 when I bought my 55 reg X5 3.0d.
I think it cost about £ 450 but I got 10 months interest free payments & 15 months for price of 12.
Glad I bought it as I've just had over £ 1500 of repairs carried out ( PAS pipe, Cv boots & auxilary heater ) WD paid in full ( less excess ) even though I did not get authorization for first part of the work ( not completely my fault, see my other post ) but they could have refused part of it, so I was more than happy
Just got my renewal through for extra care ( luxury care only for cars up to 4 years old ) & it's £ 450.
I'm going to call & see if I can get it down but I will definately be renewing based on experiance so far.
Don't think I would like to run the car without some protection, especially with the price to replace a turbo or auto box
Regards, Phil.
Well I've spoken to WD and querried why they offered me extra cover this time not luxury cover as I had previously, I thought it was because my X is now more than 4 years old but on website it suggests that vehicle has to be less then 4 years old & less then 60K miles when the policy is taken out, which it was when I took out the cover in 2009, all I wanted to do was continue the cover & the car has only 40K miles on it. She then agreed to continue the luxury cover at an extra cost, I said I didn't want to pay anymore than the quoted price so in the end she gave me it for the same price plus air bag & emmission cover as well. ( If you don't ask you don't get )
I'm happy with that & I like the peace of mind knowing most items are covered & as I said previously I had no complaints with the claims I had to make.
