2015 DIY progress... A big thank you

Post by biggeek » Mon Dec 28, 2015 4:31 pm

Hello Guys & Gals

I would just like to say thank you for all the help/guidance and tip you have provide me.

I manage to get quite a lot done over past 18 months.

Basic service( Air filter, cabin filter, oil change & oil filter)
Power steering flush inc. reservoir
Auto-transmission flush
replaced leaking Sealing sleeve
drained and replaced front & rear diff oil
drained and replaced xdrive units unicorn juice
2 front CV boots
check and repacked CV joints
Coolant change
Replaced coolant reservoir (BMW)
Brakes fluid flush
Brake pads
Brake rotors
Emergency brake shoes
ABS sensors
Vertical height sensors
Replaced ABS unit (pump & ECU)
Front suspension refresh ( upper & lower control arm, droplinks, balljoints and 1 swing arm bush)
2 Front bearings
2 Front Wheel hubs
1 Front air spring ( Arnott)
1 Front starts (Arnott)
Rear suspension refresh( upper & lower control arms, droplinks, ball joints and intergral links)
B4 rear shocks
2 Rear bearings
2 Rear Wheel hubs
2 rear air bags (Arnotts)
1 Drivers door carrier
Restored front headlights
Restored rear light cluster
Replaced all bulbs (most direct swaps apart from led angels and night breakers for mains)
Replaced Auxiliary pump
Ripped out dated head unit and ancillarouris (dvd, sat dvd etc..)
Installed new head unit...An Andrive about 3 weeks before they went bust(at least I got the unit I guess)
Installed new subwoofer enclosure
Installed new Alpine PDX 5-ch AMP

WOW I didn't realise how much I had done until I wrote out this list :) Not bad (even If I do say so myself :) ) especially seeing that I have never done anything more than changed a wheel and a basic service before.

Thanks once again I couldn't have done it without the help of this forum and it's members.

Not everything went in perfectly and not all jobs are finished (ice install etc) but they are all working and most of them yielded some improvements (suspension is a transformation). The stuff that I cant feel a difference have a definite placebo effect because I know it has been done and should be good for the next 5-10 years.

I still have a large amount of stuff to do in 2016 but I will post that under a different post.

p.s I will be double posting on Xoutpost as well as they really helped too...I thought I would mention before I put someone's nose out of joint :)

Very well done.  You must be knackered, and very pleased with yourself  :D

yes on both accounts but I am far more excited and nervous to get started on my 2016 list which is mostly under the hood...dum,dum...DAAAAAH! :)

oh and I forgot to mention subframe bushes.

4 tools I found essential
subframe bushes tool which made the job really easy
rear balljoint tool.(not the c-clamp one)
20t hydraulic press( cheap ebay one which looks worse for wear due to my lack of knowledge)
pole from my racing jack used as a cheater bar
