I have a manifold to change some time soon..
Reading this article that AW8 dig out for me (thank you)
Question,
In picture 3 of the original post picture trail, shows 2 rows of 6 Inlet bores...
The lower 6 appear to be the Main manifold air inlets....
What are the 6 dirty holes above ? are they the re-breathers from the vortex crank case filters going to the main inlet..?
Was hoping to not remove the inlet manifold..

The picture shows 6 Inlet bores and 6 exhaust bores I think. The dirty ones at the top are courtesy of your EGR valve and are the inlet bores which the inlet manifold bolts onto, which is also pictures in another photo, I think
Edit. It's not the exhaust ports. If you look at the photo on the link which picture an inlet manifold, looks like it bolts on at both locations, air in to manifold and air into engine

a merry xmas bump all!
Wowm my local indy was trying to charhe me £1k for fitting and parts in London, so glad I did some research.
Anyone had good success with ronin's exhaust manifolds?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200984412537? ... rmvSB=true
Unfortunately, Yorkshire is quite far for me but now I know what I need doing should be able to negotiate fitting for a fair price
Anyone used click mechanic at all? they wanting £250 for fitting at my house
And to the original poster - wow wee - you certainly have a knack of telling a story but also a mechanical know how which is very impressive
Thanks

I got one of these kits....
Was an easy fit with the pictures on this post & doing it a stage at a time.... all told it was a gentle afternoons work,
It does require a bit more than DIY skills to do this job, as it's quite involved & there is a potential to damage some older brittle plastic parts if if not careful or sympathetic with the forces applied to them.
1,000 to fit this is ridiculous !

My indy just did the thermostat and breather (thanks to the forum for those tips). Both panned out well.
But he also discovered a cracked exhaust manifold. I didn't know that bit yet about the M57N. Every company makes mistakes.
So I'm posting just to say thanks again to the forum for the advice. After reading a few threads here and xoutpost (and upchucking a little bit about the design of the stock collector) I just ordered the cast iron replacement others here have used. Made with pride in England, cool.
Surprisingly, the GB supplier has a much better price than the German sellers, and a more complete kit to boot. Usually I get better prices on 'ersatztiele' in Deutschland, but not this time.

I got a cast Iron manifold unit to fit when the weather warms up, the whole kaboosche incl all gaskets, studs & bolts for £69 delivered from Flea-Bay - - - excellent.
and
As an engineer originally from a castings & CNC machining back ground, I must say, the quality of the casting & machining is certainly on par/if not better than the offerings currently being fed into Jaguar/LandRover & GM's production lines currently.
Sunny weather is needed to get this fitted...
