Personally I don't like the look of the new disco sport. The styling is to soft. No idea about how it drives, costs options etc. but my choice would be the X3 but realistically you need to get a good test drive in both. I would be pushing for a 24 test drive in each.

Cheers don

I like both but if don't spec the X3 up a bit might always compare it against the X5 going to have a look today and organise a test drive for the day

I have had such bad experiences with LR Dealers and reliability, I just won't go near them.  BMWs issue is the options included are poor, but then LR probably won't sell as many without the standard they offer.... :(

That and the wallowy ride makes SWMBO car sick!  Might be better in latest versions, but you're still dealing with LR.

Test drove disco sport today um bit soft on ride very nice car bit noisy compared to the x3 and not as well built very flexible seating in the rear
But the spanner in the works was the new X1 very deceiving size wise and very good fun to drive build quality was very good
Food for thought I think

New disco sport looks crap, prefer the previous shape. New X3 looks good and not too small either.

Echo the points above and add that these two are not a direct comparison, they are in a different size class. The Disco is closer to the X5 category.

Think you are close I have the x5 as well but even with15 k worth of extras it's not in the same class as the x5

Tried the range sport when I got the x5 but too small in the back and the boot

So after all this its the new X1 for me

Fair enough - the other option would be the new Disco Sport (Freelander) which is very popular and bigger than the X1

Sorry miss understood you it was the disco sport I was referring too had the full size disco D4 before the x5

Wanted to like the disco sport but not for me i am afraid think build quality was not quite there as well as been a tad noisy and 9 speed box always slow to change same as disco 4

So picking X1 tomorrow
