Rear fog light failure messege

Post by sbeast007 » Mon Dec 07, 2015 10:45 pm

Keep having a message pop up saying rear fog light failure. The fog lights work fine though.  Any ideas?

It's usually corrosion on the internal contacts in the light fitting, these can be cleaned up and stop spurious faults appearing.

See this for removing tailgate panel to access.

Moisture gets into the light units from the seals failing on the light units. You can get new seals from BMW or aftermarket. Originally I believe they used a liquid gasket, but moved to a foam type.
