MOT Manual only says they must work if fitted, in conjunction with HID (Xenon) or LED lighting units.  You should be fine.

Section 1.7, para 2 in case of any query.

You've been lucky with a tester not knowing the rules then.  It should fail.  Any good with lottery numbers?..... :))

They never tested mine either, there's that many cars out there now with non projector headlights sporting HIDS, they must be going through the MOT test  too. The testers Nate even commented on the colour of the light 600K , saying he liked them and where did I get them.

She passed today but with a fair few Advisories...

Window still stuck down as they refused to look at it :(

Brake Pipe Slightly Corroded N/S & O/S Front
Headlamp Deteriorated but light output not reduced N/S & O/S
Tyre's close to limit N/S front, N/S & O/S Rear
Steering System has slight free play detected at steering wheel
Park Brake efficiency was only just met (17%)

So a nice little list to get sorted but the headlight washers werent a problem :)

Brake pipes. Quick scrub with a wire brush and that's sorted.
Headlamp. Not an issue.
Tyres. I guess you knew they were knackered.
Steering. Can't be that bad.
Park brake. 16% is a pass. There's no point them going much beyond that as it's passed already.

Advisory's really piss me off. You have nothing to worry about and congrats on your pass.
