Might be wrong, as i have the MID unit..
Doesn't the Nav unit drive the screen...
The 2 could be related to just the NAV fault???

but when i take the sat nav unit out it looks like it reverts to a previous mk3 or something.

but the screen flicker is with both sat nav unit in and out

Personally I would wait till you have repaired the NAV unit then go from there, just in case..

As for replacing the screen unit yourself then it is an easy job (apparently) and there are How to remove them posts and videos available on t'net..

I'd agree with Steamy. Any problems are usually down to the Mk 4 unit so get that repaired first and see what happens.

The screen is fairly easy to take out and there's usually plenty around on eBay.

I could not be bothered with the hassle any longer ,  no bluetooth poor satnav  and the screen going off and running the battery flat overnight , got the whole lot removed and replaced even the speakers , for me it was the correct move im more than happy

an alpine ine-w997d head unit , 4 / 8inch mtx speakers sub and large amp , rear camera in number plate surround , all works via touch screen OR , voice command via siri which is awesome , still have mpg readout on dash display outside temp etc , my webasto heater works by remote so the loss of the obc doesnt matter ,
