Blower stopped working E53 2002 3.0i

Post by Drumstick » Mon Nov 02, 2015 10:33 am

Morning all.
Just had to drive to work with my windows open to keep my screen clear as my blower has decided not to play today!  Was fine yesterday.
I have checked the fuses ( 2 in the glove box ) and they are both ok.
Can any one point me in the right direction of where to look next.

Cheers

have a read of this thread before running out to buy a new final stage resistor (hedgehog).
a faulty fsr usually shows by the fan running erratically or on full blast and sometimes not switching off with ignition.

http://xdrivers.co.uk/forum/index.php/t ... #msg125728

my fan is working at the moment, the screeching noise disappears after giving it some full blast for a minute or two.
im wondering wether something is getting jammed inside the blower compartment, a leaf/twig or broken fan blade maybe?  its such a job to get to it tho.  :(

Thanks for the replies. I've got a new hedgehog and will try and fit it tomorrow.
Will update as I go.

Thanks again.

I had blower issues, changed hedgehog, now no aircon? On the heater settings it goes from 16 deg upwards but no lower than 16. Is this normal or should it go lower? I just can't remember, just wondering if my control unit is giving up. Any ideas?

Is your gas level OK?  Does the pusher fan come on when you select a/c?  If the system hasn't had a gas check for a few years then it may need refilling.  Lack of gas pressure shuts the system down.
