I'm formally withdrawing this from sale. I've been see-sawing and getting messed around on my intended purchase as recently as yesterday by Spire BMW in Borehamwood. I'm going public on their appalling attitude, the 6er i went to view yesterday (150 mile round trip) was awful, it had lots of paint chips on the doors and boot lid and hadn't even been cleaned, inside or out  >:(

I'm going to keep the X, which it seems i also under-priced by quite a margin too, at least until 2016, even if i do find a 6er i want inbetween.

FWIW a 650 i looked at earlier in the year is still available and i'm sure its a mighty beast to own but also maintain, so i think i need to be sensible, even at my age, and focus on 3.0L example

So, the heart says this brainstorming 4.8L. Insurance is 'interesting' though as are some suggested maintenance costs, front discs and pads a cool £800 fitted.

The head says this more sensible 3.0 is the better option, has a better specification and less miles too, though is a year older. Both hit the £490 RFL bracket  :-[

That 650 with the 4.8 must be awesome. Have you test driven it?

I have driven it and as you can imagine its a rocket ship. But, and its a big but,  that example is bereft of sat nav and a pano roof. Coupled with very high insurance excesses and maintenance I have opted for the more sensible 3.0L example shown. Its a competely different animal of course but 272 bhp against the X's 285bhp is hardly a compromise. Collection is on Tuesday.

I'll keep the X5 for now, probably through winter and reasses a sale on it next year.
