Hi first post on here the pixels on my cluster are dead it has been to a shop but the main board is damaged they tried to replace ribon and led screen still didn't work have now got a second hand cluster in great condition in the post question is there anyone near Newcastle upon Tyne that can recode this to my car or know best place to get it done thanks in advance

Hi and welcome to the forum.
If you bought a like for like binnacle of a same variant X5 it would probably just be a plug and play install.
BUT if you plug it in it puts  a tell tale dot in the mileage display, as the mileage is stored on the ECU as well as in the binnacle. Maybe a dealer job.

I think it's a dealer job unless you can find someone with a copy of the full GT1 suite.  You need to record the mileage at the point of change and flag that the instruments were replaced.
