Diesel Engine Identification

Post by MattX » Mon Oct 12, 2015 10:07 am

Hello folks,

I've been an E46 owner for the last 5 years so I'm pretty clued up on most things BMW.....

However, I'm considering an 07-09 E70 3.0D and notice they come in either 232bhp or 282bhp power options.
How can these be differentiated from each other?

Many thanks

Might have just twigged this - is it the all silver grills at the front?

If you can tell what engine is in most just by looking on an E46 there must be the same clues on an E70?

Exhaust,  number and location of pipes, grills, badges, they're all tell tales as to what engine it's hiding.
