Steering Wheel Retrim (E70)

Post by Avtar » Sat Jan 15, 2011 10:51 am

Was looking at upgrading my steering wheel to the one from the from the performance range, however it was £585. So bought one of ebay £80 inc delivery and gave it to a guy called Jack (Recommended by Raj on the forum and Jason), he wrapped in Black Nappa Leather to match my interior, great job, prices start at £120....

BTW: The lower part in acrbom fibre finish was done by the guy who wrapped my interior trim.

I was about to get the performance alcantara flat-bottomed one but the dealer told me that the paddle shifters aren't comparable with it, very disappointed, but I've seen it fitted and still having them though.
Might have to look into this with a thicker wheel.

Great job! I like a Fat steering wheel... big hands :driving:

Jalf, you should be able to get the paddles to work by changing the slip ring? Maybe completely wrong though....

I know the Performance Wheel II is not compatible with steering wheel heating, or lane departure warning but it's certainly an option for the X6 and is listed for the car on BMW's own accessories website. Link below. X5 E70 is the second one down and the X6 is the third. I have steering wheel heating so can't have it without losing that function - difficult choice :(

You can find it on RealOEM too.
