Leak

Post by pcdee » Thu Sep 17, 2015 6:46 am

Got in the Car this morning and saw a puddle in the passenger foot well.

Any ideas where it could come from?

Ooooo , we all  love a mystery leak.

Sunroof, ( Blocked tubes that run down the windscreen pillars ) , Scuttle panel blocked ( its a very large area ) , worn/torn door seals , torn/shrunk door moisture barriers ( anyone had the door trim off recently ) are places to start. My money is the scuttle panel cavity.............

If there is antifreeze with it could be your heater matrix/valves/pipes.

Ive had great fun over the years finding these leaks.
Good luck

Update......
I checked the drain holes by the sunroof and they are not clogged.  I tested the driver side just to see where it should exit the car.
So then I try the passenger side, the water just sits there, I checked under the car and there are just a couple of drops dropping slowly.

Could I get some compressed air in a can blow it through?

Hi there

Best thing to do is remove the inner A pillar trim (1 torx bolt under the airbag badge in the pillar trim)
You will then see the rubber drain tube running down the pillar into a metal tube just above the level of the dash, pull the rubber tube out and blow compressed air down the metal tube to clear the blockage at the bottom.

I did one last week and it was leaking so bad it ran water into the lamp control module that's mounted int the kick panel below the glove box , worth pulling that trim off and checking that control unit is dry.

Easy enough job

Good luck
