Folding mirrors

Post by richy170 » Thu Sep 10, 2015 3:56 pm

Is it possible to have the car electronics changed so the mirrors fold automatically when you lock the car?

Sure is - 2 minute job if you have a wifi adaptor & Carly BMW app (or know someone nearby with them).

There's a recent thread on it called "Code X5" I think. Works the same for the X6 though.

I've got the kit and have done mine if you're anywhere near Leeds?
Cheers
Phil.

More importantly, if you have the mirrors folded, can you stop them unfolding automatically when the car hits 27mph  ;)

Thanks for the info on code x5 which I have just searched for. Wow this Carly app thing seems amazing. What is the wifi adapter and how does it all work in very simple terms, bearing in mind I am the saddo who pays Halfords to switch wipers.

I live in Farnborough, Hampshire so unfortunately Leeds is a long way. Is there anybody within 100 miles who could help. I would happily pay, provide wine, beer etc for your time and the stuff you have already bought.

Thanks

I have one.  Wifi unit plugs into the OBD2 port and it creates its own local network.  Connect your tablet/phone (once you have the App) and do what you need from the tablet/phone.

You can send the log back to Carly via email and within a short period you get the decoded log back in a language that makes more sense.  :)

Mirrors now fold on locking/unlocking. Thanks to all the members for their knowledge sharing, especially Splang. Used the iCarly app. What a clever and useful app.
