Sold the X5 after 3 1/2 years of pretty much trouble free motoring and bought this.....
It's a 4.2 Supercharged and for a fat old girl, she can certainly lift her skirts and whistle down the road at a fair rate of knots. 2.5 tons and 0 - 60 in 7.1 secs is pretty impressive.
The X was a great car but not in the same league as the RR. Then, why should it be when the X was about £45k new and the RR around double.
I shall be looking in from time to time and if I ever have a need for a diesel again then I may be back in the fold. Unlikely as semi retirement means that 3000 miles a year is about all I'm good for these days. Probably do more harm than good to a diesel.

Re: Now the X has gone
Very nice and it seems like a good choice going petrol if your only doing doing 3k miles a year.
Similarly I sold my wife's Astra diesel for the same reason and replaced it with a petrol Abarth.
I was thinking about replacing the E53 X5 petrol with a newer E70 40d diesel but as I only do about 4k a year in it and a diesel seems a waste and I like the V8 sound
Keeps us posted on your progress with your RR

Above wording out of context conjures unpleasant thoughts in seriousness hope new car serves well - let's hope the running costs aren't double like the new list price vs your old X5 ....Thanks for sharing & keep us updated

Keep the warranty and let us know how reliable it is conpared to the X

Re: Now the X has gone
Thanks for all your best wishes and as for Audi boy, I did my reliability apprentiship on a P38 Range Rover, which as we all know are made of cheese, so that doesn't bother me.
Never bother with warranties. Just good preventitve maintenance. I think most of the problems with these type of cars is when they become cheap enough for muppets to buy them and not maintain them. A hundred grand car still has the running costs of a hundred grand car, even when it only costs ten grand.
Seems kind of odd as it's the first time I've not had a BMW on the drive for many years.
