Drivers door handles gone all wonky and wont let me in :(

Hi Guys and girls,

I got in my car fine at work, got home parked up, went to pop to the shops and the door wont open from outside, works fine from inside (i dont alf look silly leaning over the centre console from passengers side opening the door), anyway the handle is not flush with the lock cap and feels like an engine with no compression !!! so i am guessing either the cables gone or whatever holds the cable to the handle or backing is non existent now, (the rattle when I hit the handle would confirm my fears lol) Anybody had this and fixed this ?? any help would be greatly appreciated

Yes there is lots on here about this - do a search for door carrier, its either come off or snapped - I think there is even a fix in the HowTo section. and no need to leave over from passenger side. as you approach the car and press the unlock button on the fob continue holding it down and the windows all open simultaneously, then lean in the drivers side and open it that way - much easier !

yep, just done my passenger side one, old one gone in the classic place. used a cheapie one of flebay as its not used much so lets see how long it lasts! but for the drivers side and the aggravation of fitting it i would recommend a genuine part.
