think you've both been smoking too much hemp? Mind you it must be awesome being able to afford one, it's true what they say...living with your mother does save loads of money :'(

Either it's you who's doing the smoking or really out of touch with what's out there. The reason we and others got the Leaf is because it was cheap! So I haven't had to move into my mums or sell my body (there's a lot to go around so pound for pound, good value) but I have opened my eyes to the new technology.
I have had three X5s and an X6 and think they're great cars but as capable as they are, without major modifications (such as the Paris Dakar X5) they are never going to be great off road performers. Enjoy throwing yours around the gardens but be realistic about its abilities.

Re: Today
There are plenty of cheap cars on the market, with much more style and credibility. A leaf purchase is made by people who think they are saving polar bears when in fact the 3 electric charge points round the country produce more emissions than diesel or petrol! At least get an i8 if you want to be a proper tree hugger )
I get the impression Leaf buyers are the type of people that dealers rub their hands together when they see
Without wishing to sound ostentatious (unlike some others) I do own lots of land which I develop and either manage or sell on. I do have other cars..I won't list them as it's irrelevant (unlike some others) however the X5 is perfect for inspecting large acre sites brown or green field and still having the ability to get me down the Tarmac in great comfort. I agree it won't get me to the top of Everest but it is a more than capable 4wheel drive vehicle.
Style and class are words I would associate with the X5. That's perhaps why some people no longer own them

As most will know on here, I'm easy going and not normally one to get to bothered or involved when a thread starts going south. Indeed when in first saw 535dboys reply about being one of the originals, I was ready to let you know that he likes to wind people up and don't worry about it, however when I read your posts I thought, "not this time, you deserve it". Your crass reply both about living at home and then even more disrespectful reply to finding out someone's mother had passed and assuming that in someway that's funny shows your class and style and to be honest it's in the gutter.
Don't bother to make any more assumptions about me or my reasons for owning my cars as so far you have been so far of the mark that I can only assume that any success you have had in business has been achieved by good fortune and luck.

Today
Well said Don.
I don't think Mr Lightyear quite understands the concept of why we bought the Leaf's does he.
Im beyond trying to explain it to him as he clearly struggles with the concept of the fact we are not tree huggers, and it was purely because the deal was THAT cheap!!
Regarding the dealers rubbing their hands together,I get the impression the dealer did the exact same thing when he sold that poverty looking X5 to our fellow member here.
And without trying to sound ostentatious, why feel the need to come out with a line such as " I own lots of land, I develop, sell on blah blah blah! ". Sorry you do sound ostentatious, and a whole lot more.
Others mentioned their other cars, because you were shooting people down with your "quick witted" comments regarding Leaf ownership etc, and at the end of the day, you guessed it, this is a CAR forum, not a "green field / brown site " forum.
Ps the X5 is NOT a capable 4 wheel drive vehicle! that would fall in the realms of a Toyota Land Cruiser / Land Rover Defender etc or the like.
Im guessing by your "dramatic" pictures, 99% of family cars would be more than up to the job of what you are doing there with that X5.

Re: Today
Ooh I do love these threads............
As Don says, most people (including Don and kjb1) that join this site receive a 'warm welcome' from me and they either stand their ground in a fun humorous way or bugger off. You, Buzzy, however seem to be on a different level and I don't mean a good one.
I thought maybe it was me that wasn't explaining myself properly about why I have a Leaf and yet Don and kjb1 have stated the exact same reason as to why we have a Leaf. It is a very cheap run around car, not fun, not good looking but a cheap way of running a £30k car. I assume if your car is on the drip your monthly repayments are still more than ours. The repayments are loose change and the sort of money I regularly find down my sofa. Personally I couldn't give a flying fuck about the environment but I do like Polar bears. Probably like everybody here that owns one and including my mate that has just ordered one too from the guy we got ours from, to add to his fleet ( 1400bhp GTR, 650 BHP 997 Turbo S, C63, s/charged RRS, Merc ML350, Bentley and proper AC Cobra - not bad for a 32 year old huh)
In the price bracket that you have paid for the X5 it is still probably the best SUV I agree - it was when I bought mine new in 2008 and I tried everything else. However if you are buying new now, there are far better options out there in my opinion mainly in the form of the RRS or Cayenne. When I was looking they were both awful cars.
I got my X5 'stuck' twice. Once in snow and once down a muddy track on a family farm. Both times on the level !!!! They are crap off road but granted, given that I am a driver, they are quite good on the twisty roads and I have had well driven hot hatches chicken out on me and back off in the past. Most E70s, particularly poverty spec SE ones, look very old and dated now and I'm not sure I would be of them
Thank you for showing concern over my living arrangements either you are a very cold person or have not suffered loss.
Yes I am very rich (not all blood money as you like to think either my big chunks are still to come) and also have property over the country but not just to make money on, some family live in some of them because I am nice like that

Re: Today
I have driven mine off road without issues albeit I once got stuck on my own drive running on Diamaris in the snow. Fine on average farm tracks albeit I wouldn't expect it to cope well on wet rocks or in axle deep in mud.
I too understand the leaf clan on here to have cost saving agendas rather than tree hugging. Nice and clean to immediate environment when being driven though.
The kindly offer of Off Road area shown looks like a slightly elevated putting green & right or wrong it made me chuckle a little.....Oh & I thought 535dboy changed from E70 for driver and cockpit ergonomic reasons
As for mother references - Mr T would not approve.
I hope I don't have to introduce mine to keep order here
