Re: Heated front seat
Check the fuses in the front fuse box (above glovebox), check the connector under the seat, what is the warning light on the switch doing?

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
Re: Heated front seat
The warning light is not showing anything unlike the other that shows 3 settings

Re: Heated front seat
To ascertain if switch is the issue you could swap the left and right switches then test. If no change then the issue is elsewhere.
I am not an electrics expert but will be bold enough to suggest you cant do much more over the advice given without dedicated kit.

Re: Heated front seat
If memory of my previous X5 (E53) serves me correctly the back of the switch module only has one large connector which serves all the switches on the module (PDC, HDC, heated seats etc) so it is very difficulty to 'change switches over' as suggested. You can check the connector under the seats though: do all the other power functions of the seats work?

The seat switches are not switches in the old fashioned sense. All the buttons in the switch centre cover a miniature push-button. There is no mechanical switch as such that you can remove. These push buttons are directly mounted on to a circuit board, as are some tiny lighting LEDs and more LEDs for those buttons that have warning lights

When checking the connector ensure the ignition is OFF.
One plug under there has seat occupancy and seat belt tensioner circuits and will ping up your airbag fault light on the dash which will then need resetting....
