no clock in display

Post by buzz » Mon Aug 10, 2015 6:58 am

First off, hello from a newbie.....

my 2006 3.0d has a strange fault in that the clock is simply not there in the display....pressing the clock/BC button does nothing except dim the radio display slightly...no setting options are visible

OBC scrolls through all functions using the turn indicator BC button and everything except the time and date is working ok (apart from the inability to reset)

tried pulling fuses 1, 43 and 45....no change....tried a quick battery disconnect (20 mins)....no change

gonna try a longer battery disconnect unless anyone has any ideas...

car has high MID and business radio with in dash cd player

great forum and hope to become a contributing member in the future...

Two things to try..

1 - I think the clock will only display once the time is set on the radio.  Check that is oK first.

2- Try the general reset as the dash can get easily confused and muck you about.
(Disconnect battery for a few mins then reconnect - Ensure ignition key is in your pocket when you do this......)
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
Please note...
Anything I say is only from my personal experience and knowledge..
I don't assume to know everything, and know there is a lot I don't know..
But then I could be talking bollox.. O:-)

Thanks for taking time to reply....

The clock cannot be set with the radio as the clock/bc button doesn't do anything (except make the display blink when you press it)

I tried the battery disconnect but only for 20 mins.....from what I have read on here it would appear that it needs to be off for at least 1/2 hour. That's my next plan.....
