Hi all. I've recently discovered my rear diff has a slight oil leak from the right hand shaft entry. After speaking to BMW I've ordered new seals for both sides. I'm just wondering if when they arrive and I get it in for repair, is there going to be any other unexpected problems? I.E could the bearings going be why the seal has broken? If so are the bearings replaceable? I've never had any noise from the diff and noticed the oil where the car is always parked almost immediately. Any help or advice appreciated.
Thanks

4.6is Differential seals, bearings?
Re: 4.6is Differential seals, bearings?
Hi mate
Before you remove the driveshaft to change the seal just give it a good firm shake to see if there is any movement in the diff bearing .
Done loads of seals and not seen many bearing issues.

Thanks Stevo, kind of put my mind at ease. It's going in to a friends garage when the seals arrive, I've just laid it up in the meantime. I assume the diff needs to come off to replace the seals, and therefore any bearing damage will be obvious?
