WTB replacement shocks & front springs

Post by JimmySpeed » Wed Jun 10, 2015 11:40 am

My car is coming up to 120k and I need to do a bit of R&R.

My front coil spring is broken at the bottom, so they need replacing and my shocks will be past best at this mileage also. I have already changed the rear air bags recently as one was leaking.

I don't have 3rd row seating, and the car is on sports suspension (SE dynamic).

BMW want £300 for springs and £1300 for all 4 shocks but I know from experience on other BMW's that OE quality is often worse than the likes of Bilstein/Eibach.

Can anyone recommend suppliers for suspension equipment that is designed for standard (not modified/lowered) usage? I'm not finding much online in the UK.

Thanks

Bit off topic, but were those prices including fitting, or just parts? Had a front spring go today. ECP have them at £40 odd each spring.

That was parts only.

If you've got sports suspension or SE dynamic, save your time and money with ECP - their stuff is for standard SE suspension only and will ruin your car's setup. I never did find another supplier for springs or shocks other than BMW.

Cheers - I a local garage is doing both springs with Lesjofors for £380 all in.

I've done a bit of googling, and mine does have the sports set up, but the spring website lists one model for all x5's (3.0d to the 4.8i) So i dunno know...
